Before founding Dickerson Law Firm, Nick spent over 16 years at a large international firm. There, he worked alongside his close friend and mentor, former United States Attorney for the Southern District of Texas Tim Johnson, successfully handling high profile cases and collaborating with some of the most respected trial lawyers in Texas and beyond. He has represented Fortune 500 companies, CEOs, judges, and doctors, and is equally comfortable advocating in a courtroom, presenting in a boardroom, or investigating on a factory floor. At Dickerson Law Firm, Nick brings the same expertise, attention to detail, and work ethic he honed during his time in Big Law, but with the added flexibility and personal touch of a smaller firm.
Early in his career, Nick focused primarily on complex commercial litigation, representing plaintiffs and defendants in bet-the-company lawsuits and multi-million dollar disputes. He was soon drawn to white collar criminal defense and internal investigations, driven by a desire to find the truth and protect the constitutional rights of the accused. Nick was later selected by the federal judiciary to join the Southern District of Texas Criminal Justice Act Panel and began routinely handling more general criminal defense matters. This background enables Nick to seamlessly maneuver between the civil and criminal worlds, and he often handles parallel proceedings with implications in both. Regardless of the issues, Nick recognizes that a quick and quiet resolution is often the best result, but he meticulously prepares every case with trial in mind from the outset to ensure the best possible outcome for his clients.
Nick graduated from the University Honors Program at Texas A&M University. His coursework included a study abroad in Bogotá, Colombia, where he became fluent in Spanish. Nick then attended the University of Houston Law Center. He excelled in law school, achieving various academic honors (including induction into the Order of the Coif, the Order of the Barons, and the National Order of Scribes) and serving as a Senior Articles Editor for the Houston Law Review. He also earned valuable judicial externships for Justice Elsa Alcala of the First Court of Appeals of Texas (who later served on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals) and for United States District Court Judge Sidney A. Fitzwater in the Northern District of Texas. After graduation, Nick received a graduate fellowship with Texas Defender Service, working on capital punishment reform and policy initiatives.
In 2026, Nick set out on his own to form Dickerson Law Firm. In every case, he remains committed to understanding the nuances of the client's situation and delivering practical solutions to their most serious problems.
